House Judiciary Committee holds hearing on “Oversight of the Dept of Justice: Political Interference and Threats to Prosecutorial Independence.” The committee will hear testimony from two DOJ officials. Aaron Zelinsky, a federal prosecutor in Baltimore who was assigned to the Roger Stone case, quit in protest after Atty Gen Barr announced he was in favor of reducing Stone’s prison sentence. John Elias, the acting chief of staff of the DOJ Antitrust Div, will also be asked about a federal inquiry into a deal made between CA officials and automakers to reduce emissions.
