Robert (second left) and Michael Meeropol (left), 69 and 73, are the sons of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg (bottom right: Ethel left and Julius right), the couple executed in 1953 for spying for the Soviet Union. The brothers have started a new campaign to exonerate their mother and spoke about it in a new interview with 60 Minutes.The Rosenbergs were electrocuted for stealing atomic bomb intelligence. But their sons say that evidence proves their mother was not part of their father’s spy ring. They have started an online petition, asking that President Obama pardon their mother before he leaves office in January. The brothers pictured top right in 1953.
