DW (German) – Flights are taking off again from Hong Kong International Airport, as authorities introduce new security measures. The airport had been shut down by two days of mass pro-democracy protests, which at times turned violent. In response, some protesters have apologized with signs and tweets. But they’re also vowing to carry on with their campaign for democracy – and for greater independence from Beijing. China’s Hong Kong affairs office has condemned yesterday’s violence, calling it ‘terrorist-like.’
